Fifty-Three of Fifty-two

I’m not that bad at math. Okay, actually math was a bit of a struggle for me in school, especially algebra, but I do know that there’s not fifty-three in fifty-two. I’m writing this post as both a celebratory post and as a “what’s to come” post. Leaders are oftentimes asking the “what’s next” question and I’m no different, sometimes to a fault. This post is to share more of our story and to honor some who’ve helped get us here.

In October of 2021, I was invited into a cohort of guys that were, in some capacity, navigating the coaching world. I was connected to Kingdom Dreams Initiative through Ben who is the founder of KDI. At this point Ben has already played the coach/mentor role to me in a different capacity and is an all-around great guy who loves Jesus, loves pastors, and loves the church. Throughout this cohort I was able to have some honest conversations with the other guys as we talked through our struggles and successes and we were able to glean from one another. At this point in time I had just launched the website and thought I had some things figured out. Throughout the time I spent with this cohort I quickly realized I wasn’t as prepared as I thought I was and while I’m sure that statement is true for many entrepreneurs and small business owners launching, I didn’t realize how true it would be for me. If you don’t know my story, I’ve done this before. I had an organization that did exactly the same things I’m doing now with some slight differences in functionality. Nonetheless, I had to choose to grow or remain where I was.

One of the coolest things we did was; each person had a chance to share something they viewed as a struggle or hangup for them. When it came my turn to share a struggle I was going through I realized it was content creation. Not so much that I couldn’t create content but how do I create helpful content that could easily communicate the goals we want to help people reach and more specifically, someone who may not know me. This mattered because I know I’m a good orator but could I communicate in other ways. If we were to sit down over coffee or lunch I can easily share with you the why and the how, especially if you knew me. But what about the people that I believe I can help that don’t know me or may never have a conversation with me. After all, I’m no-one special from nowhere Louisiana. It’s at this point when Ben made a suggestion that would change my entire approach for an entire year. He told me to write a blog post a week for a year straight. No matter what, good or bad, one a week for fifty-two weeks. I decided to take on this challenge but what happened next is what really changed things. As I began to process, write, study, research, etc. I realized that this year that I was entering into was no longer a year of growing this business, at least not in the traditional sense, but a year of foundation. I started a spreadsheet to log ideas for blogs, videos, and other content I wanted to create. We changed the name from Eric Foshee Ministries to Foshee Leadership Coaching along with logos and graphics. We sured up our purpose and let go of some things that didn’t point to that purpose. This past year has been one of immense growth and immense challenges. It’s funny how often those two words walk hand in hand.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, last week was blog post number fifty-two! I reached my goal! Of course that leads us to the question, what’s next? I’ll continue writing. I’ll keep posting blogs and articles here but I actually have a book in the works that I’m doing some research for. I’ll coach. I believe that’s where God has called me. To coach, mentor, and support students and those that work with them and I want to be obedient to that calling. We seek to live on purpose and with purpose, and that purpose is helping you with your purpose.

I want to of course thank Ben and KDI. Without them I don’t think I’d be where I am today. If you have a kingdom dream and need some help getting it going, check them out. I’m excited for all that’s to come, the challenges and the rewards.

What goals do you have for your life and leadership? What’s your “52?” Whether it’s building something new, rebuilding something old, or continuing what you know, set your goals, work for your goals, and put people in your life that want to see you exceed your goals. That being said, if I can serve or support you in any way, please reach out. We exist to help you reach your leadership goals! Stay the course, you have what it takes!
